We don’t like to buy things anymore on MRP. Often there are big margins on most of the products ranges from small to big, and we want value addition from whatever we buy. That’s why  discounts are now an unavoidable part of an Indian shopper. Be it online shopping or offline in-store shopping, offers & discounts have been now taken for granted. However, it is the new talk. These deals and discounts that we take for granted today didn’t even exist before.

Discounts, coupons and deals were born when brands surfed number of ways of attracting consumers to their brand name by incentivizing their purchase. With the advent of e-com ,nearly all small & big players have now either developed their own e-com website or are selling their products/services on popular e-com platforms like Flipkart , Amazon, Dunzo , Expressbees etc. Before digital commerce was that popular, discounts were offered by companies through print media. It was used to be made available to the masses with the help of newspapers and other printed medium and the discounts could only be used for shopping offline in the stores or malls. Customers couldn’t even imagine the cashback , discounts and coupons available on various websites. Not even phone applications were available for the brands that could be downloaded from android or Apple PlayStore.

These discount coupons brings in a win-win situation for both the customer and the brands as well. A great deal can allow customers to avail products and services at the lowest possible prices without compromising on the quality. The offers & discounts have always helped the brands to attract new customers, to retain the existing customer base and clear the excess inventory. Hence with the boom of dig. commerce, offers and discounts evolved over a few years. In the present date, offers and discounts are offered by a company not just to retain & acquire new customers, but also to increase the brand visibility, ensure customer revists , build trust and to become the most preferred brand among them.
 

The e-com players use dynamic pricing as a strategy to lure clients. Due to this, they’re bringing in even more lucrative offers by adding diversified payment modes be it card payment ;UPI; Net banking etc , more partnered websites, additional discounts, etc., to fit them best. This further ensures a repeat use of the websites by the customers.Hence we can clearly say that the future of discounts and offers is very hot. A study conducted by Coupons and Claremont Graduate University reveals that offers and coupon codes can actually make people more relaxed and happier. These benefits also build a sense of trust between the brand and clients, because stuffs like cashbacks give us the feeling of having got the most out of our invested money.

Today, we have apps which even allow shoppers to browse and shop from the multiple websites and even get paid while referring friends and family through social media elements like Facebook, WhatsApp, Email , Instagram etc. These have truly transformed the way we shop today. Looking aback at how far we’ve come also tells us how exciting times are ahead of us waiting with more and more better developments
